Support making Greater Victoria a welcoming place to live

Find a way to help that works for you

There's more than one way to welcome someone.

Some people give financially. Some share an hour each week. Others gather friends to welcome a refugee family. Every act of generosity helps build a community where newcomers can begin with dignity, find their footing, and create a life filled with possibility.

1.

Donate to support newcomers

Give a one-time or monthly donation, donate securities, leave a legacy gift, or give in someone’s honour. You will receive a tax receipt, and your gift will support newcomers and refugees in Greater Victoria.

2.

Give a little spare time

Conversation circles, reading buddies, tax clinics, youth programs, event help. Most roles ask for a couple of hours a week and a three-month commitment.

Real stories: Latif’s journey to a new home

“Support from ICA was the most important help my family received.  Nahla, Ramzi, and Ashraf, ICA staff members, made sure we found housing, got needed medical care, and helped us understand our new country."

Latif’s happy childhood turned into a fight for survival when a bomb injured his father in Syria, and his family had to leave their home and travel to Turkey, in search of safety and medical care…
