Mentorship programs that benefit the whole community

Get advice from a local professional in your field

The Mentor Connect program by the Immigrant Employment Council of BC and ICA, matches job-ready skilled newcomers with established local professionals for one-on-one occupation-specific coaching.

Get advice from a local professional in your field.

You can have the right qualifications and still have questions: how your field works in Canada, who's worth knowing, workplace culture, and what a hiring manager in Victoria is really listening for.

Through the Mentor Connect program, we pair you with an established local professional in your own field for two months of one-on-one coaching, so you can ask those questions of someone who's already answered them. Matches are based on occupation, industry, professional experience, career interests and goals.

Become a mentor in your community

If you've built a career here, you have valuable experience to share with someone entering your field in Canada. Mentoring takes about 12 hours over two months, and it goes both ways: mentors tell us they sharpen their own coaching and leadership skills, gain a genuinely international perspective on their industry, and help build workplaces that reflect the city we live in.
